2017 GLA Paraprofessional Grants - Apply by June 30, 2017

The Paraprofessional Division of the Georgia Library Association (GLA) announces its 2017 Paraprofessional Grants.

Five (5) $250 Award Grants will be given to the winners to facilitate their attendance at the 2017 Georgia Libraries Conference – GLA’s Annual Convention to be held in Columbus, Georgia October 4-6, 2017.  In addition, each winner will receive an awards plaque, which will be presented at a GLA conference function and a one-year free paraprofessional membership in the Georgia Library Association.

Please note that while applicants do not have to be member of the association in order to compete, they must be full-time employees in a library falling under GLA’s auspices (normally a college-level academic, public, school, or special library).

The deadline for submission of application forms is Friday, June 30, 2017.

Call for 2014 GLA Awards Nominations - Extended Deadline!

The Georgia Library Association Awards Committee invites all local librarians to nominate their colleagues, co-workers, partners, and other library supporters for the 2014 GLA awards.  We have extended the deadline for nominations to May 2, 2014.

GLA has awards to celebrate a variety of library and non-library personnel for their contributions to
the state organization and/or their local library. Nominating someone is easy (just 10 fields on a form and a heartfelt letter), but the reward of recognition and gratitude for good deeds is endless.

2010 GLA Award Winners Announced

The GLA Board has approved the recommendation of the 2010 GLA Awards Committee to present awards at the COMO XXII GLA Banquet in October as follows:

The Bob Richardson Memorial Award to Sarah Steiner, Georgia State University, Social Work & Assessment Librarian

The Charles Beard Library Advocacy Award to Dr. Melvin Steely, University of West Georgia, Georgia’s Political Heritage Program

Honorary GLA Membership to Callie McGinnis, retired from Columbus State University Libraries

The Library Support Services Award to Brad Baxter, UGA Libraries, Systems/GALILEO Support

The McJenkin-Rheay Award to Tessa Minchew, Georgia Perimeter College - Clarkston, Systems/Catalog Librarian

The Nora Symers Paraprofessional Award to Heidi Benford, Clayton State University, Acquisitions Assistant
